About Me
Carol is the author of 101 Ways to Make Yourself Indispensable at Work (Cengage, June 2009) and college textbooks 100% Externship Success, CD, and online materials (Cengage, 2008), General Office Procedures 1st and 2nd editions and instructors’ manuals (Cengage, 2001). She has had a dozen creative non-fiction stories and inspirational pieces published in national magazines. Her children’s story won a 2007 St. David’s One-Day Conference Award.
Ms. Silvis was video interviewed in June 2009 by Tory Johnson of Good Morning America’s Job Club for ABCNews.com and for newspaper articles on conference planning, modern business skills, and telephone techniques and manners. She has appeared twice on a Cornerstone TV half-hour talk show, where she discussed time management tips; on Moon Township Cable TV; and on a radio program.
For over two decades, Carol Silvis has trained adults in how to get a job, keep and enjoy it, and get ahead. She has a Master's in Adult Education, teaches full-time at a post-secondary institute and gives workshops and seminars for schools, businesses, and professional organizations. Her topics cover career development issues, resume preparation, customer service, stress management, telephone techniques, human relations/teamwork, effective communication, correspondence writing, office technology, and time management/organization.
Carol is vice president for Pennwriters, Inc., a 440-member writing group. She won the 2008 Meritorious Service Award, was a past Authors’ Advocate, and the 2005 and 2007 Conference Coordinator. She lives in Murrysville with her family.
