Unbuttoned
Ken Fink was exactly the man he was raised to be. A successful lawyer. A pillar of the community. A good family man. Responsible for an unrelenting list of clients, crises, obligations. Like so many other men, he felt overwhelmed and trapped but believed his male role left him no choice. When crisis shatters the box of his buttoned-up life, he sets out on a wild and often wrenching quest for something he names simply as—more. (More...)

Tip! "Unbuttoned, Who Says Men Can't Change?" makes the perfect "guy gift" for your husband, father, nephew, or other male significant other on their next birthday or for Father's Day.

Uncanny synchronicities take him from a life-changing blindfolded kiss to an ashram detox, from miracle healings to multi-dimensional reality, from an obsessive mind to an accessible heart—and, ultimately, to what it takes to be a complete man.

Ken Fink brings an eye for the magical, an ear for the outrageous, a flair for storytelling, and an inspiring vision of male possibility to this candid, gutsy memoir.

About Me

Ken Fink practiced in the corporate and securities in his earlier life while his more recent undertakings have emphasized practice in the spiritual / consciousness domains.

After attending public school in Florida, Ken graduated with honors from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, University of Pennsylvania, where he served as president of his social fraternity. After service in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, Ken graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law where he served on the editorial board of the Virginia Law Review. During his years of law practice Ken served as a director of a private school in his community and was a founding director of the Jacksonville Marine Institute dedicated to rehabilitating delinquent youth.

After 15 years of legal practice, 11 as a partner in two prominent corporate law firms, burnout necessitated Ken to abruptly seek a different path, one directed toward healing and higher consciousness. During the early years in this new direction, Ken achieved a good understanding of yogic principles, spending significant time at the Kripalu Yoga Center, as part of his personal healing. As part of this direction, Ken took courses from such luminaries as Dr. Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson and Yogi Amrit Desai founder of the Kripalu Yoga Center (who provides a testimonial in Ken’s recent book) as well as from many equally important non-luminaries who provided necessary support and love for Ken’s healing and evolution. During his post practice period, Ken wrote for a motivational, online newsletter, “Inspire” and served on the advisory committee of the Atlantis Healing Center.

In May 2006 Ken published Unbuttoned-Who Says Men Can’t Change? an autobiographical account of his 15 plus years of a healing and transformational journey following his practice of corporate law. Unbuttoned includes the exploration of the newly learned advantages of developing a healthy internal life, something that lawyers, and men in particular, might otherwise overlook. An interview of Ken’s experience in writing Unbuttoned appeared in the lead article in the June, 2004 edition of Science of the Mind and a book review is contained in the June 2006 issue of Natural Awakenings in North Florida and other editions.

Ken is the father of two daughters and a son.

Testimonials

As appeared in Natural Awakenings Magazine, Northeast Florida edition, June, 2006:

Ken Fink in his book, Unbuttoned, Who says men can’t change?, has created a great entry point for a fellow soul in need of change. Fink serves as tour guide for an amazing and wild ride through dozens of healing modalities and fortuitous life-changing encounters. As he becomes increasingly open to the inexplicable occurrences in this universe the reader catches a sure glimpse into the possibilities available for his own existence…

Unlike some transformational tales, Fink’s account is consistently wry and potent… It is thrilling to hear the male voice extolling personal transformation… As the pages turn the once virile, competitive, highly achieving father of three succumbs to an unidentified illness, moves out of the home of his dreams via divorce and breaks beyond the life his dear parents had envisioned, and tacitly sanctioned, for him. Each event portrays the terror a soul experiences at the crossroads, but contains a brilliant, humorous luminosity that is Fink’s trademark. For the reader in a rush, or easily distracted- perhaps by his own brilliant legal career, Unbuttoned is a perfect fit. Fink has created a series of powerful, stand-alone chapters that can raise the reader’s eyebrow or cause one to laugh out loud.

Every Man in Corporate America: This may save your life!!

This is a story of one man's fall into despair, having been a successful lawyer, his work took him on a roller coaster ride that led to stress beyond belief… You will laugh with him, cry with him, celebrate with him as he learns the true meaning of surrender, trust, and experiencing the meaning of peace as he becomes one with his Higher Self after many role transitions. Men: This is a must read for all of you, those who are in the corporate world playing corporate games, and those who are striving to reach the top of the corporate ladder. This book may just save your life in more ways than one. I can see this book becoming a number one best seller.
