The October Gate is the story of one woman's encounter with the Spirit realm, as she desperately seeks healing from a potentially devastating illness. When Lucy, the narrator, moves to Brooklyn from a southern city, the first person she meets in Sarah Haymond, a lovely, elderly woman who becomes a close friend. Death will end their earthly friendship, but it will continue "beyond", as Lucy, guided by Sarah and Others, becomes a messenger to our world.
Quotes from the messages, as given by Sarah, who is the "October Gate":
"Sarah reached across the table, and I felt a warm touch on my hand. Her smile was lovely as she began the lesson. 'The most important feature of your human lives is what we shall call the awareness of your own goodness. You see, the moment you tap into one truth: 'I am eternally good, I'm made of good, I'm experiencing good, all I know of life is good;' --then you find the peace you are looking for.'"
"Your work is to understand that everything you need is self-contained. But then you go a step further, and you understand the 'self' is not what you think. It's an amazing amalgamation of energies and activities and fluidities; it's a complete system unto itself."
"In a place of ultimate truth, all power is with you in your own being-ness; you have merged with Being, so there is no separation. The analogy is a drop of water in the ocean. If separated from the whole, your identity becomes minuscule. If you integrate with the whole, 'united with' becomes all encompassing; all strengths of life are in you. You wake up feeling invincible, you transcend the concept of human limitation to a place of absolute bliss. Those who allow themselves the privilege are living the Truth. As humankind evolves, this will be more and more your path, your life, your vision...Be at peace in your world, my child."

Five Star Amazon Review!
I have just finished The October Gate, written by Ann L. Albright and I have so many emotions inside that I needed to get them down on paper. This is the type of book that feeds your soul, your mind and your body. Having a few tissues handy will not hurt either.... I have written many book reviews and I am not usually so poetic in my reviews, but this book touched me so much that I find myself using words that I don't normally use in describing a storyline. I loved the friendship that developed between Lucy and Sarah and I thought it completely endearing to see this friendship continue well into another realm as Sarah passes on. Both women finding each other at a time of deep need, proving that it is true that the universe may not give you want you want all the time, but it will always give you what you need. “I love the photo of the autumn leaves against a clear blue sky -- very meditative and suggestive of change and renewal -- a seasoning and ripening of the spirit.” -- From Lynne M., Florida
