One of my favorite books of all times is Gone With the Wind, by Margaret Mitchell, so when the opportunity presented itself to visit Margaret's apartment in Atlanta, I grabbed the chance. (I'm here visiting my son.) Did you ever, as a writer, have one of those etherial, otherworldly experiences that transported you to the top of a mountain? I had that experience today, when I reached out and touched the carved lion headed newel post that she touched for luck as she was writing Gone With the Wind. (It's in the book and the movie, as Scarlett O'Hara grabbed it trying to stop her fall down the staircase.) Totally goose bumpy!!! (And my son then gifted me with a replica of the newel post from the gift shop. It's nice when our loved ones appreciate and honor our whims as writers!)
