I guess maybe I'm just skewed, but when I go to a store, I like to be able to find what I want with relatively little hassle. I'm not the type to enter a bookstore and just wander around for several hours, grazing. I want to find what I went for, check the bargain books, and get on with my day. Borders just doesn't seem to have the same flavor. Independent bookstores have more personality, but often don't have what I want on hand. And Starbucks is a plus.

Of course I like shopping at Wal-Mart, too, for the same reasons. *ducks the inevitable throwing of pointy objects *

Barnes and Noble is the place to hang, with Borders coming in a close second, but B&N just has that posh, serious reader feeling to it.

My dream is to walk on and purchase my book from them.

I've actually had a chance to do that, after a book signing at B & N. It feels great! Hang in there. It will come!

How did you land a book signing @ B & N?! Well done.

I've had a book signing at B&N as well. They're very accommodating, and the Erie store was fabulous. They advertised it with signs ahead of time, set me up in a little area downstairs where I could have a mini-workshop, even gave me the stickers to show these were autographed copies!

When you have a book to promote, you send a letter to the store manager, with your book information sheet, so they can order some. Then find a mutual date. I'd recommend inviting friends and supporters to stop by, because a lot of times a booksigning is a fairly lonely event. You have to be able to reach out to folk wandering the bookstore and connect, to get them to come find out what your book's about.

It's STILL cool, tho.
